Bags | Eagle Creek Vagabond Courier

The Eagle Creek Vagabond Courier Shoulder Bag There is always that little bag we take where we put the stuff we readily access and need when we travel like mobile phones, passport, flight tickets, notebooks, mints etc. The type of bag differs from each people. Some prefers belt bags or fanny pack, personally I like using shoulder bags and keep them on my side. I have used a lot and to add to the growing list is the new Eagle Creek Vagabond Courier . A new shoulder bag geared for the mobile tech and smart urban traveler.

Bags | Pacsafe Camsafe Venture V12 Camera Sling Bag

On the field with the Pacsafe Camsafe Venture V12 (Photo by Roadworthy Man ) Choosing a camera bag requires the same care and conscientious thought as buying a camera itself. Why? It’s the one thing that would hold your precious gear. It should be tough enough to carry its weight, rugged to take everywhere and withstand the elements and to add to that growing concerns, secure enough for prying thieves. That where PacSafe comes in. I’ve been using their “anti-theft” products for years now and it does add a certain piece of mind when securing my stuff while traveling. And lately they have been extending their line to include camera bags that caters to different styles of photographers. One of the recent camera bag models they have is the Pacsafe Camsafe Venture V12 Camera Sling Bag . I put the bag to the test on the recent Aliwan Fiesta 2013  and here I share my impression of this camera sling bag.

Field Test | Sony Alpha SLT-A99 and 85mm 1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T Combo

The Sony Alpha SLT-A99 full frame camera While we were in Singapore for our talks for the Sony Digital Workshops there, the people at Sony Singapore were generous enough to let us use a couple of their cameras like their Sony A77 and their current flagship full-frame camera Sony Alpha SLT-A99 . It was a good opportunity to see how far Sony has come since I tested their Sony Alpha A550 years ago. The new breed of Sony Cameras incorporates their SLT (Single-Lens Translucent) Technology which uses a fixed semi-translucent mirror to remove the delay from the flipping mirror typical DSLRs have along with the other benefits of the technology. I won’t delve much into the technicality here since a lot of reviews out there already covered them but share my short stint with the Sony Alpha SLT-A99 on this while roaming around the lively street life of Singapore at night pairing the camera with the Sony 85mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T on this post.

Stay | Unexpected Home at Hotel Winotosastro Yogyakarta

The standard room at Hotel Winotosastro It was one of those cases when I originally booked in one hotel but ended up in another. When I got back to Yogyakarta coming from my Borobudur trip, I took their efficient bus system and alighted at the station near JL Parangtritis. Hotel Winotosastro already caught my impression as I was passing by especially with their promo of IDR 137,500 (US$14) for their basic room but decided to take a very long walk to a lodging at the Jalan Prawirotaman. To make a long story short, the US$10 accommodation I booked was so far at the said street, I didn’t feel comfortable and secure with the room so I decided to just look elsewhere.

Lagu Beach Towel, a Friendly Beach Towel for the Beach and Beach Bum

Chilling at the beach on my Lagu Beach Towel Summer has just started so there’s still time to get this awesome  Lagu Beach Towel ! So what’s so special about them? It’s sand repellant! (aside from getting those annoying sand on your clothes and stuff it helps preserve the sands on the beach, leaving them where they belong) It’s quick dry! (very convenient especially for packing) It’s allergen free (Personally it doesn’t itch on the skin) It’s proudly Philippine Made! (love our local products!)

A Sony Digital Workshop Weekend in Singapore

The author during the Travel Photography Talk at the Singapore Arts House It’s been a couple of days since I returned from Singapore. Last weekend was spent working for the Travel Photography Talk for Sony Singapore’s Sony Digital Workshop . I and my friend and co-facilitator for Backpack Photography, Oggie was there to give a talk about Travel Photography and introduce the wonderful island of Batanes to the people of Singapore. It was quite a new experience talking to a mostly foreign audience at the Singapore’s Arts House (formerly the Old Parliament). It was a learning experience as well that we had to make some adjustments on our presentation for the 2nd day of our talk.
