Olympus PEN E-PL2 is in the Philippines

Olympus PEN E-PL2 The much awaited Olympus PEN E-PL2 has officially reached the shores of the Philippines and is now available at major camera stores. The E-PL2 has garnered a lot of praise from photo reviews and critics. I’ve been using this silver variant for more than a week now and is liking the new design which is like a cross between the E-Px and E-PL1 line. Will be posting my field test impressions and sample photos in a few weeks. In the meantime the single lens kit with the version 2 of the 14-42mm kit lens has an SRP of  P33995 while the two lens kit with the 14-42mm and the new M.Zuiko version of the 40-150mm kit has an SRP of P39995 . It comes in colors of black, white silver and red.

Dispatch: A Flagellant at Angeles

Angeles Flagellant (Olympus E-PL2, 40-150mm at 100mm, F5, 1/250, ISO 200) It was a Bloody Good Friday at Angeles, Pampanga. We were there to witness the Siete Palabras (The Seven Last Words) re-enactment which is a first at Barangay Lourdes, Angeles City. It was chaotically interesting I could say. But alongside there were numerous flagellants. At first I thought I couldn’t handle the gore, the pain of seeing them punish themselves and their blood splattering all over the place but it was interesting to observe their practice of this old Filipino tradition.

Dispatch: NatGeo Earth Day Run 2011

NatGeo Earth Day Run 2011 Earlier this morning I joined the 10k category for National Geographic’s Earth Day Run 2011 at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) . There were more than 10,000 participants on this run under the collective category of 3k, 5k, 10k and 21k. Finished the 10k route in over an hour and 9 minutes which I think is good enough since I didn’t really have proper preparation prior the run. It was a well organized event with fireworks signaling the start of the run,  marshall are in the right positions while water stations are there when you need them with enough water for everyone. The  run would also help build the Mind Museum at Taguig . Here’s a quick shot I took during the run using my Nokia N8 .

Olympus E-5 Express Field Test: It's the E-3 With Some Spunk

The Olympus E-5 DSLR It took about three years before Olympus finally rolled out their upgrade for their flagship Olympus E-3. Just when everybody thought they would be abandoning their DSLRs to focus on their PEN Micro Four Thirds Line, they produced the Olympus E-5 to somehow show their commitment to the classic Four Thirds Format. But would this be enough to keep the current Four Thirds users from switching or new DSLR buyers to consider this as their purchase? Here are my impressions of the Olympus E-5 DSLR from a couple of weeks use.
