The tablet market is heavily saturated that it’s a hard choice for any consumers on getting one. They are starting to look the same. That’s why I kinda like the idea of Lenovo Yoga Tablets as they have innovative concepts that stands out from the many tablet choices. Recently Lenovo launched their second generation of Yoga Tablets and I got a chance to field test their Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 10 HD+. The versatile Yoga tablets welcomed another mode in the hang mode with beefed up hardware and specs.
Better Hardware
I’ve had the first generation Yoga Tablet 8” for almost a year now and it’s one handy device I can’t leave in my travels. Though lately I had some issues with it when I upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat as the hardware had a hard time keeping up with its memory requirements. The new generation yoga tablets have better specs especially with Intel coming to the core of their neat retro designed bodies. And aside from Android they also have a Windows operating system option but we used the Android system on this one. Here are common specs from its range

The Yoga Tablet 2 10 HD+
I can clearly see the marked improvement on the sharpness and contrast of the new Full HD IPS display on the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 10. The higher resolution 1920×1200 is very much welcome. I was impressed with the wide viewing angles from the old screen and it feels much satisfying with this better screen.
The multi-mode now had an added mode from its cylindrical kickstand which can now be pulled further and has a hole for hanging it up by the wall. So the Hang mode joins its Hold, Tilt and Stand modes for using the Yoga Tablet. I really enjoy this feature especially on long travels when I can just hang the tablet on the strap of my bag and watch a movie hands-free while in transit.
The Android 4.4 KitKat which comes out of the box feels a lot smoother now on this device. The interface has some minor changes in terms of panels and functions but it looks basically the same skin similar to how IOS implements its basic interface. Nothing spectacular but I guess its a safe interface for many users. The beauty of Android though as there are many launchers that can be used for customization. I did like the calendar screen saver when the device is plugged in for charging.
On the handling side, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 10 HD+ is almost the same size as a full-sized iPad but slightly on the longer end. The battery cylinder does make it more bulky and feels a bit heavier. I do like that they moved the volume button to the left of the screen along with the power button as I had problems sometimes with the first generation design with the volume on the right side on the screen on hold-mode.
The 8 megapixel camera has improved as well but still something I would not use primarily for since the details are still subpar and is prone to clipping highlights. It good for documentation purposes.
Summary
The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 10 is one of the better looking Android Tablets in the market but personally I have a bit of trouble where to place it. I enjoyed the Yoga Tablet 8 since its has the perfect balance in terms of size, portability and also has telephony features. The Yoga 2 10” relies on Wifi (though I heard other countries have LTE microSIM slot) and is a bit bulky to bring around. For media experience though, the Full HD IPS screen is a pleasure for viewing movies and browsing photos. The specs makes for a capable computing device for browsing, social media and gaming. For a media tablet device only, it can be in a crowded company if better battery life is a major criteria this Yoga Tablet 2 10 has it. However, I think its bigger brother, Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is a lot more interesting since it has a built-in projector and more powerful hardware.
