Olympus E-5 field tested at Nagsasa, Zambales

So I let my little powerhouse Olympus PEN E-PL1 take a rest and take the new Olympus E-5 DSLR out into the wild. It was a fun weekend trip to Nagsasa in San Antonio Zambales and I get to expose this camera to the elements. And all I can say for now is that if you are looking for one rugged DSLR camera that can withstand the outdoors, this one’s it.

Dispatch: Unexpected Palaui

The rainy weather continued to delay us on our second day of Lakbay Norte 2 but it didn’t stop us from visiting Palaui Island which reminded me a lot of Batanes. The afternoon gave us time for an extended snooze then a sumptuous meal from the night’s host, Eastern Hawaii Resort. Like Sun City Resortthe night before, they used to be exclusive for Mainland Chinese Nationals but now are opening for the local crowd.

Who doesn’t love theme parks? Growing up, I enjoyed visiting these places especially at this time of the year. It’s always a fun place to be in. Here in the Philippines, Enchanted Kingdom remains to be the premiere theme park. It’s almost 2 years since my last visit and have noticed they have spruced up a bit with a new ride and few new attractions.

Dispatch: Hopping Around Hong Kong

Hong Kong Disneyland Fireworks

Hong Kong Disneyland Fireworks

I’m currently in Hong Kong since Friday. It is my first time to visit this place and it has been really exciting these past few days. I and a few bloggers, Nina and Oggie were able to go around getting accustomed to the place during our free days, trying out different forms of transportation, getting from one place to another and more importantly trying out some of the best Cantonese Food I’ve ever tasted. Our main reason for coming here is Disneyland Hong Kong, and so far it was a really fun first day here. I’ll be coming back there later before we head back to Manila.

Lakbay Bayan 2010 Exhibit at SM Mall of Asia

It’s better late than never as they say. It’s the last few days of the Lakbay Bayan: Local Tourism Exhibit which started last October 17 and will end on the 27th. I squeezed in an hour to check out this nice little exhibit at SM Mall of Asia beside the skating ring. Team Manila again showed their graphic design excellence and contributors get a bit of the spotlight on tips in different destinations.

Dispatch: A Northern Spin

Windmill Wonders

Bangui Windmill Wonders (Olympus E-PL1, Zuiko 40-150mm)

It was a tiring day but rewarding. It wasn’t really on the original plan but being touristy with the rest of the family and new friends was a welcome spin up north. Upon the request of my sister’s friend to visit their house in Laoag, we were fetched from Vigan and then toured some sites up on Ilocos Norte. Like I said, it was tiring but fun, especially when you see people enjoying the sights along with you.

Dispatch: Crisologo in Mono

I can’t remember the last time I went to Vigan. It’s still a nice place after all these years and coming in an off-peak season means less crowd. The north is such a great place to back to once in a while. And I’ll be here for the next few days for some light sightseeing.
