Using the Millerton Aquaventure at Virgin Island Bantayan

Field Test | The Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag Review

The Philippines is blessed with 7,107 islands and exploring any of them entails crossing seas or dealing with erratic tropical weather of sudden squalls, may it be land or sea. So traveling with a dry bag is essential in the country to protect one’s precious gadgets or belongings. There are plenty of dry bags available and here’s one other option available from the popular online gadget shop, Kimstore. Let’s look at the Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag. A large 20L dry bag with attachable shoulder strap for only P999. I brought the bag along for a week-long expedition at Tañon Strait and a 4-day exploration of San Pascual in Masbate to test how tough this bag is at the outdoors.

The Dry Bag

It seems unlikely that a popular online gadget store would carry an item for the outdoors like the Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag. But thinking about it, it does makes sense to offer such a product to protect any electronic gadgets bought from them. Millerton is a brand inspired by a place in New York of the same name and the company devotes time in making premium accessories like smartphone and camera case and covers.

The Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag is a large 20L dry bag that comes in a package that includes a free 1.5L dry bag and a quick-dry attachable shoulder strap. It seems like a good deal considering its price tag of Php 999 when bought from KimStore.

Durablity

I like the material used, it’s thick and feels tough and Millerton claims the dry bag to be tear-resistant. Judging by the rough, sandy and coral beach surfaces I have dragged the bag, it seems to stand those abrasions. The 20L dry bag can fit my camera pouch and extra items like water, towels and even snacks. I really like the free 1.5L dry bag as this small bag can fit items like cellphones and wallet. I like that I can attach a shoulder strap to the bag. So far it can handle the weight of my DSLR with lenses and a 1L bottle of water. After weeks of use though, I noticed there were some loose threads already but so far, it has retained its waterproofness.

Summary

The Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag is good value for the money especially at the price of Php 999 with all the freebies. Having used it island hopping in Cebu and Masbate, it does what its made for, keep essentials inside the bag dry. It feels more durable than regular dry bags with the thick material it uses but I’m not 100% sure on the stitching on how long it can hold in time. But as with any dry bags, and having used them extensively for years, I always tell people to use them with care and not abuse them. Yes dry bags are waterproof but they also have threshold and would only last a certain period. That also holds true for the Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag. I do like the freebie that comes with it (the small 1.5L dry bag) and the shoulder straps makes it convenient to use.

The Millerton Aquaventure Dry Bag is available at KimStore for Php 999.
