Last night was Dispatch Media’s first Travel X Thursday featuring IMPRINTS: Soul on Sole. it’s a travel art installation by Pilipinas Street Plan featuring 30 extraordinary nomads and know the tales behind their favorite travel footwear! It was a blast getting to meet fellow travelers for a while all in one place. The Art installation was really interesting, especially the part where the photos merge with the real life installation. It was also a pleasure to finally meet local author Caloy Libosada of the “26 Days Around the Philippines” fame, that book was a big influence when I started traveling. Sharing a few photos from that evening.
Environmental Portraits and Feature: Tomas Leonor of Step Juan
Challenged on how he can help a group of 60 children with cancer on a visit in Batangas, he did what little he could do – walk. Artist-Environmentalist, Tomas Leonor, has very little in possession so last year he decided to walk to generate awareness and funds for children with cancer. From Pagudpud, he walked about 475.5km to Matnog, Sorsogon in a period of 48days with only his rickshaw Karl (inspired by walking adventurer Karl Bushby) as companion.
For this year, 2011, Tomas will continue his walk in the Visayas region for Step Juan Bai, a 56 day journey picking up from where he left off at Allen Bicol to Boracay Aklan starting April 4, 2011.
This afternoon, I caught up with Tomas after his Presscon at Philippine Children’s Medical Center and had an informal chat about his Step Juan Bai project.

Dispatch: PSE Bull Run 2011 10k Run
I haven’t been active in running for quite a while but I decided to go back at it recently and has been conditioning for some good runs. For the start of 2011, I decided to go with PSE Bull Run for a few reasons (1) it’s close to where I live (2) registration is relatively cheap. My objective also was to get a feel of going back into this kind of runs. Nothing really serious but just to have fun.
RockED Rock the Riles 2010
It was one of those rare times where people can linger around MRT stations and bring their cameras out to take some pictures. It was also one afternoon for me where I get to do some station hopping just to see what bands were playing. Last Sunday, December 12, was Rock the Riles 2010 brought to you by RockED. It’s an annual event held every Sunday of December near the Human Rights Day.
Few of My Nature Clips included at the “Love the Earth Film”
Imogen Heap is one of my favorite female musicians. First time I’ve heard her ethereal voice is on the collaborative duo Frou Frou. I looked her up and found out she had great solo albums and since then, her music has been a constant companion in my travels. I was ecstatic to learn she was co-working (with Thomas Ermacora) on a concept nature film, Love The Earth and are asking people for contributions.
Dispatch: Lakbay Bayan 2010 Exhibit
It’s better late than never as they say. It’s the last few days of the Lakbay Bayan: Local Tourism Exhibit which started last October 17 and will end on the 27th. I squeezed in an hour to check out this nice little exhibit at SM Mall of Asia beside the skating ring. Team Manila again showed their graphic design excellence and contributors get a bit of the spotlight on tips in different destinations.
