Yakan Bride one of my personal favorite Hoffman works at the Exhibit
I like going to Exhibits since I get to see other people’s vision and works. I try to imagine the circumstances on how they created those pieces and the message they are trying to implore. When I got an invitation for the exhibit of World Renowned Photographer Per-Andre Hoffmann at the exclusive German Club in Makati, I thought this would be worth the time. His name has a familiar ring to me so I have to google him up first and yes, I may have seen some of his works on print before.
I along with my friends Oggie and Janice went to Makati Wednesday evening for the exhibit. It was a pretty packed night at the German Club with more foreigners outnumbering the locals. There were about 30 Photographic Pieces hanging on the restaurant walls. Photos with majority taken from the Philippines along and some other parts of the world. It was an interesting bit. There were pieces that I really like and some that made me question his process.

Bohol Chocolate Hills by Per-Andre Hoffmann
We got to personally interview Mr Per-Andre Hoffmann on our table. He was towering all of us but has a friendly charm about him. Mr Hoffmann has been living in the Philippines for more than three years and admits he really loves the country as long as you’re not working here. His works spans around the globe but would go home here in the country. He loves the Philippines and his captures around the country from Batanes to Basilan is a testimony to this.
I also had to ask him on about his work process since I was intrigued by his Bohol Photo which was one of his popular works which has sold hundreds already. He told us it was two exposures he blended together. He admits he does some tweaks but those acceptable tweaks which publications like National Geographic would accept.

Meeting CEO and President of Canon Philippines Mr Ramon Arteficio (middle)
Overall he’s a pretty fun guy, friendly and humurous as well and accommodated our presence well. I also go to meet familiar faces like Secretary Ace Durano and also the President and CEO of Canon Philippines Ramon Arteficio. The event is largely supported by Canon Philippines since Per-Andre Hoffman uses the brand. Even if I am an Olympus user, it’s great to mingle with other brand users as well. Besides it doesn’t really matter which brnd you use as long as you’ve got a great output.
Check out Per-Andre Hofmann’s Website. Lots of photos there. I actually like a number from his works. It is worth checking out. Many thanks to the Agatep people for the invitation to this exhibit and the dinner after. To janice and Og for the company and photos.
